Exams & Evaluations for Pianists & Theorists
RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music): RCM offers a fantastic opportunity for students to grow as complete musicians. Exams cover performance, technique, sight reading and ear training skills. Theory and history testing is conducted as a separate exam.

**For students interested in AP Music in high school or study at any level of music or the arts in college, this avenue of education provides a strong foundation of preparation.
AIM (Achievement in Music): This program is administered by the UMTA (Utah Music Teacher's Association). Students are tested in theory, ear training, technique, sight reading, keyboarding skills and performance. Students may elect to test in some or all areas.

UMTA/MTNA Performance Evaluations: Students have various opportunities through the state and national organization to participate in non-AIM performance evaluations.

Piano Federation: Federation is a performance opportunity for students to play in front of a judging panel, receive feedback and earn points toward the Federation Cup. There are several categories in which students can participate, including: solo, duet, and concerto.

Competitions & Performance
UMTA SLC Chapter Recital: Students may submit an audition tape in March and be selected to play for the annual chapter recital at Dayne's Music hall on one of their beautiful Steinway pianos in April with students from all studios in the chapter.
UMTA Fall Performance Evaulation: (See above for details) The top 20% of students in each category will be selected to perform in the Honor's Recital at the State Convention in November.
Various Festivals: Weber State University and Utah State University both offer piano festivals for pre-collegiate students with an opportunity to place in their category.

Service Performances: Students have the opportunity to perform as a Senior's Center several times a year. Not only is this a wonderful service to the community, but a good opportunity for students to perform in a fun and low stress environment.
Other
NATS (National Association of Teacher's of Singing): Annual evaluation/competition for vocalists. Singers who place first in their division advance to the state level and potentially beyond and are also invited to participate in a winner's concert in Salt Lake City, Utah. Monetary prizes are available.
Classical Singer: Offers an annual competition for vocalists with a monetary prize.
UFMC, MTNA, UMTA & RCM: All provide opportunities for singers and composers. Please inquire for specifics.
